Girl Crusade

The female rap artist, Girl Crusade, is comprised of singer and songwriter,Tara Meddaugh. Tara has been singing and creating stories since she was a toddler and is thrilled to find another outlet for her stories through her self-coined term, “chick-core rap.” She records with musical artist, Mike Bouteneff of garagespin.com (and Dreamspin music), who not only lends his producing expertise, but also offers continual musical and moral support.

Tara is a dark-comedy/absurdist playwright in the NYC area who attended Carnegie Mellon University’s MFA program in Dramatic Writing. Her work has been presented throughout the US at theatre companies, festivals, universities and high schools. She has written monologues for a robot, black blonde-humor for an internet news program, and she toured with a children’s theatre company. Tara has taught playwriting and screenwriting at Carnegie Mellon and the Pittsburgh Public Theatre, and led Creative Dramatics Workshops to inner-city areas in NY and NJ. She is the recipient of the Shubert Fellowship in Dramatic Writing, the Sloan Screenwriting Award and is a member of the Dramatist’s Guild.

Tara would like to thank her friends and family for always being her first test audience, Mr. Harold Cook, for giving her pro-bono voice lessons for years (not that she’s exercising much of that now—oops!) and being an artistic light in a small town, and of course, God and Jesus Christ.
